History

The Regional Centre of Ahmedabad was established in 1988 to achieve the objective of “reach the un-reached”. To fulfill its objective Regional Centre, Ahmedabad had established Study Centres in Central Jail, Ahmedabad, Blind People Association, Ahmedabad and Tribal area of the state. The Regional Centre of Ahmedabad was established in 1988, inaugurated by the then Governor of Gujarat, Shri R.K. Trivedi in the presence of the founder Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, Prof. G. Ram Reddy. Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Mehta was appointed as the Founder Regional Director.
